Futura Retail Solutions is a leading point of sale (POS) technology company founded in Hamburg, Germany. Some 40 years later Futura now powers over 35,000 different retail sites in 27 countries around the world, with an ever-increasing footprint in Australia.

Futura’s partners are a part of this growth and AOPEN is one of Futura’s newest. They are providers of digital signage, which is a developing technology around the world and has already shown incredibly value in attracting customers for retailers.

Effective in-store communication can be the difference to a visitor and a customer. Digital signage uses include animated text and videos, information on products, interactive content and for loyalty programs incorporating iBeacon technology.

AOPEN has three solutions that can be of use for a retailer or corporate:

  1. Computing Devices
  2. Digital Displays
  3. OpenSign platform for pushing HTML5 content to interactive devices.

AOPEN have their ‘Digital Engine’ series to offer as an integration with a kiosk or POS system, built with excellence in mind. Their unique small form factor computing devices range offer three classifications that offers a retailer (or the user) flexibility in what they need: value, mid and high end. These are connected with variables of CPU power, graphic perform, active/passive cooling and price. The computing devices offer low power consumption, 24/7 operability and have passed shock and vibration tests. An example from this range is the Commercial Grade Chrome OS Device, which allows fast and secure signage from the cloud using Google Chrome OS. It is advertised as the strongest Chromebox available on the market today. Specs, warranty and further details are available on the AOPEN website. The displays are a second function of forming effective digital signage.

The AOPEN displays are split into three different categories: ‘All-in-One Touch Displays’, ‘Touch Displays’ and ‘Displays (non-touch)’. The first of these are designed for use in commercial settings and allows for flexible of use in different environments. There are currently 5 different products which are named eTILEs. They use Intel technology and have advantages such as being powerful and tamper proof. These displays allow for the improvement in the marketing and targeting of customers. The same goes for the touch displays and the current Digital Mosaic 22MT 21.5” display available is designed for use in public environments. This is supported by the fact they are equipped with IP65-grade front panels, so they are dust and waterproof. They can be mounted in portrait and landscape and ideal for creating videowalls of varying sizes which also applies for the non-touch displays. The non-touch displays coming in carrying sizes and are good for any retailer looking to attract attention and improve things such as interior design.

Making web-based content available instore can complete the experience for the shopper, as they can return to the same content after leaving the store as well. This is a potential plus for both the retailer and the shopper. AOPEN have an OpenSign platform they offer using HTML5, and it allows for retailers to  allow customers to continue interaction with the retailer both in and out of the store. Content on the OpenSign platform can be managed without design experience, allows for real-time offers, and allowance for publishing across many screens after creating the set up once. This is a great omnichannel solution and unifies web, mobile assets and the retail floor. It is run on the low-cost Android® operating system and applicable to any size screen. There is a global OpenSign team that will provide friendly and professional assistance to its customers.

If you want a POS system that does more than just the transaction and comes with native integration tools that increase the bottom-line of your retail business, Futura is the right choice.

The Futura group of companies began in Hamburg in 1975, when Futura directors began working with one of Europe's largest fashion retailers to create their merchandise control system. The key components of this system were then programmed into Futura as a complete enterprise retail system (ERS). Since then more than 35,000 installations have occurred across the globe.
